Rogue Bay Fishing Report - August 6, 2026

As we mentioned in last week’s report, fish have continued to stack in the bay while warm inland temperatures build the thermal barrier upriver. That prediction has held true, with more salmon arriving daily and anglers finding success by staying mobile and fishing where the fish want to be—not necessarily where they were the day before.

Fishing on the incoming tide has yet to produce the consistent bite many anglers expected, even with near-perfect conditions. Early in the week, most boats gathered around and just above the sand spit, waiting for the afternoon pour-off as the tide began to ebb. That afternoon window produced plenty of opportunities, with the majority of fish coming on hoochies trolled behind flashers.

As the week went on, that bite faded and the fleet shifted upriver in search of warmer water. Indian Creek became the place to be during the middle of the day, producing good numbers and multiple opportunities per boat. The fish have definitely been keying in on water temperature more than anything else, making timing and location critical.

Naked anchovies behind 360 flashers have continued to be one of our most productive setups, but hoochies have also accounted for plenty of fish during the afternoon bite.

Looking ahead, the forecast continues to favor our fishery. With more salmon entering the bay each tide cycle and warm weather expected to continue, we anticipate the bite becoming more consistent as the week progresses. Stay flexible, pay attention to water temperatures, and don’t be afraid to move if you’re not seeing fish. The pieces are all there for a very good August fishery.
