What To Expect On Your Rogue River Guided Fishing Trip

When fishing the Lower Rogue River at Gold Beach we target spring chinook migrating up river.

We sit on anchor out of our custom heated, covered and comfortable 22ft Umpqua Marine jet sled. During the full day guided fishing trip we will set out various anchovy and spinner combos to entice the springers to bite on their way upriver.

The fishing season on the Lower Rogue River starts in March with the best fishing taking place in April and May.

Our typical spring Rogue River chinook salmon range from 12 to 18 pounds with a few 30 pounders caught every year. Anglers are able to keep 2 hatchery salmon a day.

At the end of your guided fishing trip we will fillet and process any salmon you kept to make it easy to transport home.

FAQ

Do I Need A Fishing License?

Yes! You will need a valid Oregon fishing license as well as a salmon & steelhead tag. If you purchase a 1 to 7 day license the tag comes with it. If you purchase an annual license you will need to purchase the tag separately.

What Should I Wear On My Guided Fishing Trip?

You'll want to wear plenty of layers, and bring water and wind proof clothing. The mornings are often chilly even during the summer, and the wind can pick up in the afternoons. Being comfortable will ensure you enjoy the day to its full potential.

Don't forget a hat and sunglasses too!

Do I Need To Bring Anything On My Guided Fishing Trip?

While we provide all the necessary gear and bait for your fishing trip, there are a few essentials you want to bring to enjoy your day.

  • Valid Oregon Fishing License with a Salmon & Steelhead Tag
  • Lunch, snacks, & your favorite beverages
  • Sunscreen
  • Cooler to take home your processed fish

When & Where Are We Going To Meet?

When booking your trip we will give you an approximate meeting time & place. Your guide will give you a call the day before your trip to confirm the details as times and place can very depending on tides and weather. If you have a specific time you need to be off the water please let us know so we can adjust the starting time accordingly.

What If I Have A Group Larger Than The Number Of People On The Boat?

We work closely with several other local fishing guides. If you have a large bachelor party, corporate group, or family we can book you multiple boats. Please contact us as soon as possible to ensure availibilty.
